Seattle Chiropractic Office Alleviates Pain From Spinal Disc Bulges Without Surgery

By Kelly Blomquist

Chiropractic care has grown in popularity. What people with back pain like about it is the fact it uses no medication or invasive procedures. No one wants to resort to surgery or becoming addicted to prescription or over the counter drugs. At Seattle Chiropractic each persons care is tailored to their needs.

The sufferer must go through an assessment before any care will be offered. The first appointment with the chiropractor is spent examining your spine, talking about the severity of the backaches and asking if you know what precipitated them. Your range of motion is going to be measured. You will have an x-ray.

Your spine is a vertical column composed of thirty-three small bones. These hollow vertebrae encase the spinal cord from which all the nerve roots emerge. Between them, with the exception of those that are fused, there are spongy discs. They are like little shock absorbers.

When a collision or some other type of impact is exerted against the spine, the vertebrae can be misaligned. This will compress the discs. When they are compressed they can press against the nerve roots. That is when the unbearable pain begins. Your chiropractor will discover the optimal way to alleviate that pain.

If the results of the assessment reveal a herniated disc, manual adjustments of the vertebrae will be recommended. A series of adjustments will gradually return them to the right position. When the pressure is lifted the disc is able to heal.

The terms bulging, ruptured and slipped are all used interchangeably. They all mean herniated, which is the correct term. The anatomy of the spine is complex. Its healthy functioning is dependent on the nervous system. A herniated disc obstructs the nerve signals being transmitted to activate all parts of the body.

If it were not for the discs between the vertebrae, they would impact each other as you move. As the spine is realigned, the anatomy of the spine can return to normal. You will be able to return to a job and recreational activities once again.
